WHO EVER TOLD YOU WELL DONE?

You did it right. Everything, every part of it. And nobody said so. Nobody ever said so. You showed up on time, if not early. You kept the promise. All the promises? You did the job the right way. The quiet way, not the flashy way. Not hey, I'm looking for I'm looking for uh accolade. I'm looking for somebody to stand up and clap. Somebody to come over and put their arm around me and go, hey man, I just want you to know. Bruh, girl, you did a great job. That was exceptional. Crickets. Year after year, year after year, you did it the right way. Even when it got super tough, and somewhere along the line, you stopped waiting for anyone to notice because they never did. There was no ceremony. Nobody stood up and said, You did well. You just kept going. And underneath it all, a small voice started asking whether any of it did it even count. If that's you, I want to talk to that voice today. Maybe you know somebody who is in exactly that place. Because today is the biggest building project in the Bible. It's and it finally gets finished. Countless hours of labor, gold and thread and skill poured out, and when the work is finished, God does something with it I don't want you to miss. Because it's exactly it's the exact thing your heart has been aching to hear. Somebody looks at the finished work and blesses it. Good morning. You've reached true word, faith for life with Dr. Sean. Thank you for all your comments and your notes and your emails and all of that yesterday. I really appreciate it. So chapter 38, verse 21 opens with a word that gives this whole section its name. The Hebrew is Pekode. Yud's a little mark. And here's a spot where the translations pull apart a little. And we could rightly and reasonably expect them to. The ESV, English Standard Version, calls it the records of the tabernacle. The New American Standard Bible calls it the number. The complete Jewish Bible calls it the accounts. So check them against your own volumes, whatever you have, but hear what's underneath all three. The root is pakad, pakad, to count, to muster, to take careful stock. So what follows is a public itemized ledger. It's kind of a big deal. Every ounce of gold, every talent of silver, every piece of bronze, counted, recorded, published, overseen by a named man, Ithamar, the son of Aaron. Itamar, the son of Aaron. Wow. Wow. Now, stop on that. Because it matters more than it even looks. These offerings were given freely, with nobody standing guard. No one would have ever known if a little gold might have gone missing. Nobody ever known, you know, it's just a little bit of gold. And God's response to a freely given gift is a public, verifiable account of every single gram. That's not suspicion, that's honor. When people give sacrificially to the work of God, the handling of that gift is a holy trust. And he wrote transparency right into the architecture of his house. If you've ever been wounded by someone who mishandle God's people, God's people's money. You know, they're always going to want to do that. That's just what they do. That is just what they do. So that being said, understand that that's a choice that they make right up front. They make it right up front. They say, this is what we're looking for. But sadly, on YouTube and other social medias, obviously, I see alleged Christians, and their whole platform, their whole platform is finding problems in the faith world and doing shows about that, and doing the real um clickbaity type of thumbnails, and they're just running down other. They don't teach anything. They don't teach anything positive, they don't do anything positive, they just teach, oh, you're wrong. They did this and they stole that. Well, right now there's several in the in the news that are that way. That they are doing those things, or at least are suspected of it. And then a lot of times, you know, they might be suspected of it, but they're not doing anything wrong. They just people are jealous, and that happens in the faith world. I've I've watched it happen. Look, I'm a nobody. You look at my numbers, I got just above 4,000 subscribers. I'm grateful for everyone, but I'm no big deal. I'm no even medium or small deal. You know what I mean? I am a nearly imperceptible tiny dot in the middle of a bazillion other enormous dots. So I just want you to understand that when we when we talk about, hey, this is you know, this is something we're doing, it's really important. Maybe you don't think it's important, but especially as it relates to the church, the little things don't mean a lot, they mean everything. Churches, places, and and organizations of faith, you have to cover your bases. Every little mark, every number. It can't be rounded this way or that way. It's got to be exact. It's just the facts, it's how it works, and we've got to deal with that. By the way, how's the sound? I didn't I didn't ask, I forgot, and uh forgot to turn on my sound monitoring thing. I see it scrolling here. I don't want to miss any of you. I did say Miss Linda. Good morning to you, Joe, and Miss Cheryl. Very lovely, very lovely. All right. So I said, you know, when people give sacrificially to the work of God, the handling of that gift is in holy trust. I have no clue because I'm hearing impaired and I'm just talking into this thing. This thing comes into here and gives me a little of idea what you know. If I'm talking too loud, there's a little bar there that goes up and down. I don't have any idea. No clue. So that grieves God, and so he built, you know, all the things that are happening. God built in a way to deal with it, to count it, publish it, let it be seen, transparency. So then chapter 39. Chapter 39, and the priestly garments get made. The ephhod, the ephod, the breastplate with its twelve engraved stones worn over the heart, the blue robe with a hem of bells and pomegranates, and the plate of pure gold across the forehead, engraved with two words, holy to the Lord. Everything God described back on day 81 now gets built by human hands. Now remember, you might say, Whoa, we're bouncing around here. We're doing it chronologically as the Bible was written. Chronologically. We're not doing it boop, boop, boop, as what you might be used to. So just understand that lots of things, you know, most likely Job, the book of Job, was written first. So, you know, we didn't do that first because I thought that's gonna freak people out. But when we go to it, you'll understand and we'll we'll talk about that. It'll be in a little bit. So as this is made, a phrase starts up, and once you hear it, you can't stop hearing it. Verse 1, as the Lord commanded Moses, verse 5, as the Lord commanded Moses, verse 7, verse 21, verse 26, verse 29, verse 31, over and over like a drumbeat running under the whole chapter. So why does the text hammer that? Why not say it once and move on? Because of the calf. I want you to think it through here. I want the light bulb to go off because of the calf. Seven chapters ago, these same people made an object of worship out of gold, and it was creative, it was heartfelt, it was enthusiastic. And Aaron even stamped the Lord's name on it. You remember that? And it was death because it was worship they invented. Nobody told them to do that, they designed it out of their own religious imagination, and it nearly destroyed them. Now, here they are with their gold in their hands again, making something for God again. And this time, every single item carries the same words as the Lord commanded Moses. Not as we thought best, not as we felt led in the moment, you know, those feelings. The Lord gave me a word. That's real the Lord. But we we're ruled by our emotions in this society, especially in the postmodern Western evangelical uh faith. We we are ruled by our emotions that are manipulated by worship music and and certain things, lighting, temperature, you know, all these things, you know, certain trigger words, all of that. And, you know, unfortunately, a lot of um seminaries now teach those things so that you can get the the best offering. You can get people to uh tell a friend and and to exponentially, but without marketing cost, bring more people into the church. Any number of things. How to create a guilt feeling without them knowing you're guilting them into doing something. That's real, that's all real. My seminary didn't do it. Liberty University didn't do it, but masters didn't do it, but that's pretty rough. So when I say not as we felt led in the moment, not as seemed beautiful to us, as he said, man. Whew, don't take liberties with that, don't take artistic license with that. Look, I need to say something honest here. I've been saying honest things, but this is oof. Because obedience like that gets a bad name in our day, right? We hear exactly as commanded, we think rigid, cold, joyless. And you this is what a lot of people will say now. The grace-only movement will say, Legalistic! You're being legalistic! Why do you keep talking about all the Jewish things? That's legalism. We are the new church. Replacement theology. Let's let's go back and watch Dr. Sean's teachings on replacement replacement theology. They're all free, by the way. All those teachings, free. So I want you to look at, by the way, Sunday's blog post and study guide are posted, and your God can't even heal your bad eyes, bro. You know what? He can, but he doesn't. And you want to know why? You want to know why? Hang around and find out. So we think we think this legalistic thing, because that's an easy label to smack on it. But look at what exact obedience actually produced here: a home. The one place where God and his people could meet. The freedom to improvise produced a calf. The willingness to do it his way produced a dwelling. But here's the truth about details. I'm a detail-oriented person. I like details. Right? When I got when I got hurt in the military, um, and that caused a lot of problems, and then got hurt again, and I caused even worse problems and uh started a snowball, you know. Um, but the brain injury, the brain injury really jacked me up. And so I so I will say the details are are more difficult for me now, but they're not less important, they are more important. Remember, little things don't mean a lot, little things mean everything. So here's the truth about details. When you love someone, the details aren't a burden, right? When you love someone, the details about them, you're like, ugh, you know, and I don't know if you guys have spouses or boyfriends or girlfriends or whatever, and somebody says, What do you love about your special, you know, person? If if you're like, um, hmm, um Hemin and Han, you can't think of anything. You say, Well, I don't like being put on the spot. Come on now. Come on now, come on. If you love a person, you tell them you love them, you better be able to name at least three to five to seven to ten things that you love about them. You say, I love you. Well, you is more than one or two things. Hot body, more than that. Blazing intellect, more than that. Super funny, more than that. Super industrious, more than that. Hard worker, more than that. Person of great faith, more than that. Can't be one thing. And you can't struggle to think of it. If you do, don't say I love you because you don't yet. That's teaching is free of charge, no cost or obligation to you. So when you love someone, the details aren't a burden. They are the language. If somebody tells you exactly how they take their coffee and you make it exactly that way, you're not being legalistic. You're paying attention because you love them. God isn't a bureaucrat checking a form. He's a person who told his people precisely how to come near him. And precision in the hands of someone who loves you is not a cage. It's intimacy. Now, I'm gonna say this, and I didn't write this in, but I in the counseling I used to do, um, I used to say this a lot to couples, whether they were married or considering marriage, or um, I used to love to counsel uh young, young people who were considering taking their relationship to another deeper, more serious level. And so I would, you know, uh sit in front of both of them several times, uh separately and together. And then at the end, I would say, you know, what they need to work on, uh, or whether whether they should stay together, whether they have a future, or whether they don't. Um, whether, hey, you fine-tune this, this, and this, you've really got something here. Or neither of you should ever date again until you fix all these things because you're toxic. Anyway, the point is, it's a soup analogy, right? I don't know what kind of soup you like. I know what I like. And I made soup yesterday, right? I can't make things anymore. I used to be a really, really good cook. I don't make things. Some of the things now are just weird. And I think, why did I put that in there? I don't even know what I don't even remember that. Brain injury. So now I look at the soup analogy a little bit differently. So you say to your mate, you maybe you're feeling under the weather, and you say, I really need you to get me some soup. Just make me some. What can I do for you, honey? Just get me some soup. I just want soup. Okay. And then you come in, you bring a sandwich. Maybe it's peanut butter and jelly, maybe it's ham and cheese. I don't know. With mayo. It's what I like. Miss Colleen likes mustard. She likes a certain kind of cheese. You know, she likes lettuce. She does sandwiches really beautifully. But she didn't ask for that, right? She asked for soup. Okay, so she goes, What are you doing? I don't understand what you're doing here. I I I asked for soup. Oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, you go out. 20 minutes later, you come in with chicken noodle soup. Now, Miss Colleen loves chicken noodle soup. But if I brought in Minestrone, right? If I brought in Ministrone, Miss Colleen, oh, even worse, Manhattan clam chowder.

Sean loves Manhattan clam chowder. Miss Colleen, not so much. So if I brought her Manhattan clam chowder, a piping hot, beautiful bowl, nice spoon, you know, the whole deal. Napkin. Beautiful, maybe even a little flour. She'd look at me and go, honey, I appreciate that, but this seems like this soup is for you. What do you mean? Well, it's Manhattan clam chowder. I don't eat that. Disgusting. Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Try again. So I go out and I find a fresh garden in my neighborhood. I pick fresh basil and oregano and all these different things, and I mush up, I mush up some tomatoes, and I do all this, and and I put a little, you know, beautiful oil in there, and I garnish it with some, you know, fresh parmesan and some fresh breadcrumbs on top, and I put it in the thing and I make it crispy on top. I bring it in. I'm so excited. Steam is coming off this thing. Oh my lands, it's beautiful. And she goes, Are you not even listening to me? I want soup. I want soup. This is soup. This is beautiful soup. I ran around, I did all these things. Sweat's running down my face, you know. I'm super proud because I think I've done something good. And Miss Colleen looks at me and she shakes her head and there's a tear welling up in her eyes. She's like, I keep asking for soup. You don't bring me soup. Am I bringing soup? Yes. Am I bringing her what she wants? No. Because what is soup to her? Soup is chicken noodle. Soup is chicken noodle without the carrots that are so, you know, she, you know, doesn't like a lot of certain things, and and and, you know, she wants it to be how she likes it. And I know how she likes it. So I go back in the kitchen. And I get her something more simple. I open a can of Progresso. No, they're not sponsored, so I get it. But they're they're great soup. Uh, if you're gonna buy a soup ready-made, hmm. So I find chicken noodle. And I open that chicken noodle and I pour it in the pan and I heat it up nice. Put it in a nice bowl, a little napkin, nice spoon, and I bring it in and I'm waiting and I'm looking and looking and looking. And Miss Colleen's face just goes, big old smile, even though she doesn't feel well. Big old smile. Thank you. Thank you for this. I don't make chicken, I don't make uh grilled cheese as well as she does, or even at all. She makes the best grilled cheese ever. If I could, I would have made that and given that to her as an extra. And if she doesn't want it, I'll eat it, no problem. You see what I'm saying? It's look, love to some people is tomato soup. Love to some people is Manhattan clam chowder with lots of clams. You know, there's a million different things. But love to some people isn't any of those things, it's something very specific. Someone who loves you, it's not a cage. To think about what they love, to think about what's important to them. That is intimacy and our communication with God that way, very much that way. It's not legalistic at all. So then comes, take a deep breath on that. Sean, you are about to pass out. Too much talking, not enough breathing. Woo, that was a close one. Started to go dark on the sides. So then comes verse 32. By the way, if that ever happens, don't panic. Generally speaking, Miss Colleen is here, and um, you know, she knows what to do. So then comes verse 32. And the language shifts. And if you know your Bible, and look, don't feel bad. No shade on you. If you don't know your Bible, that's what I'm here to help you to do, right? If you don't know your Bible, that's okay. We're gonna work through that. That doesn't have to be a permanent status. Well, he doesn't know her Bible, she doesn't know her Bible. That can be changed day by day, every day, a little bit at a time. But if you know your Bible, you you should feel it on the back of your neck, right? Verse 32. The language shifts here, and you should feel if you have hairs on the back of your neck, you should feel them perking up a little bit, maybe a little bit of goosebumps. Thus the tabernacle, the tent of meaning, was finished. Finished. The Hebrew is kala. Kala, spelled kaf, lamed, eans to complete, to bring to an end. Now I want you to go all the way back to the second chapter of the Bible. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and on the seventh day, God finished his work. Same word, same shape. But it doesn't stop there. Verse 43. Moses saw all the work, and behold, they had done it exactly as the Lord had commanded. And Moses blessed them. Now, I want you to go back to the first chapter of Genesis. God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good, and God blessed. Do you see what the Spirit is doing here? He's telling the story of the tabernacle in the language of creation. The work is complete, the work is finished. The maker inspects it. The maker sees it's good. The maker blesses. Because the tabernacle is like its own little world. A small portable Eden where God walks with his people again, where a tree of light burns and a cherubim, a cherub beam guard, a guard, a holy place. The same cherubim who guarded the way back to the garden. God isn't just putting up a tent. He's laying the first stone of a new creation. And every board and every thread of it is a promise. It is a promise that what broken Eden is going to be put back. So let me bring it to where you actually live. Whether you're a believer or you're not, it's okay if you're not. Lots of unbelievers come here. The ones that leave here blessed, whether they can whether they believe or not, is whether they stay and they listen, they open their heart and their mind. You don't have to believe it. I'm not responsible for you believing it. I'm responsible for telling you, teaching you clearly, accurately. And I'm doing my dead level best to do that. If you reject it, I don't carry that with me to the grave. So I but I do want to bring this to where you actually live. You've done work nobody inspected. Nobody blessed. Faithful years in a marriage, maybe. Maybe the marriage was hard. Right? My mother was married to my dad for a long time, and it was tough. I don't mean tough a little bit, I mean tough a lot. Maybe you've been married, maybe you were married, maybe you still are married, I don't know, and it's been tough. But you've done it right. A job done right when cutting corners would have been easier, and no one would have known. A parent loved. A promise kept, a temptation refused in an empty room. And the ache underneath it is the question from the top of this episode. Do you remember? Did any of it count? Did any of it did anyone see? Here's the answer. The whole chapter's built. This is this whole chapter is built to give you this answer. There is the God who inspects the finished work, who doesn't miss a single gram. Not even the littlest bit. The God who counts what was given in secret and writes it down by name. And who by the who at the end of the faithful work, no matter what it is, doesn't shrug, he blesses. The quiet, correct, unseen way that you've been living is not invisible to him. And here's the thing you need to remember. It never was. So here's your one thing today, and it's gonna cost you about two minutes and a little bit of courage. Are you ready? Be the voice for somebody that nobody was for you. There's a kid in my grown-up years. I don't want to boohoo again. But I stood up for him time after time after time. As many times as I saw him being bullied, that's when I stood up for him. And at his funeral, his mother told me you were the only one. And he really appreciated it. But he still took his life. Be the voice for someone that nobody was for you. Give somebody a real compliment. Find something great that they're doing and encourage them. I want you to think of one person who's been quietly doing the right thing with no applause. Let me say this, folks that are married or folks that are dating. There's a lot of women, and there are a lot of men who go a different way, a way that they shouldn't, because their spouse, their girlfriend, their boyfriend doesn't do this. They can do nothing right. Everything is about them. Think of one person who's been quietly doing the right thing and nobody's clapping. The faithful one who everyone has come to take for granted. Go to them today and tell them, specifically, that you see it and it matters. Name the actual thing. Because let me tell you something. Somebody in your life is standing exactly where you've stood, and they've been wondering if any of it counts. Today you get to be the one who looks at their work and blesses it. Now, let me bring both threads home because they run straight to Yeshua. Start the drum beat. Right. Start with the drumbeat as the Lord commanded. Every item, every time, no exceptions. And there has only ever been one life where that could be said of every single hour, from the first day to the last. Yeshua said, I always do the things that please him. He said, I have not come to do my own will, but the will of the one who sent me. He said, in a garden with everything in him, recoiling, not my will, but yours be done. The obedience written over every garment. Every garment in this chapter, obedience. This was written over every hour of Yeshua's life. And where Israel eventually broke the pattern again. He never broke it even once. Then the finishing. Because there was a moment when Yeshua hung at the very end of his work. And he said one word. And in the Greek that word is tetelestai. It is finished, it is completed, it is accomplished. The debt is paid in full. Done. The same shape as the tabernacle finished. The same shape as creation finished. And three days later, at a borrowed empty tomb, a new creation began. So here's the part I most want you to hold. Moses looked on the work, saw it was done as commanded, and blessed them. And when Shua, when Yeshua came up out of the water at the start of his ministry, when his cousin baptized him, the heavens tore open, and the father said over him, This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased. The Father looked upon the work and blessed. And if you belong to Yeshua, that same blessing rests on you, not because your work is finished. Yours isn't, mine isn't. There are boards in my life still uncut in days I did it my own way instead of his. But you don't stand under the blessing of God on the strength of your finished work. You stand there on the strength of his. Are you listening? You can keep striving to finally be enough, working for a well done that you're afraid will never come. Or you can hear that it already came, spoken over a finished work that wasn't yours, and let that settle the question for good. Then go do the next thing exactly as he said, not to earn the blessing, because you already have it. And this is how love talks. And if you've never come to the one who finished it, you can come today, you can come right now. Whether you're listening live or on playback, today's the day, now's the time. Prayer isn't asking for an easy journey, it's asking for strong back. There's nothing easy about walking in faith. People will be unkind to you. People will search the internet for Christian um, you know, Christian faith-themed things, and they'll try to destruct them or interrupt them or whatever. That may happen with your own family, your own friends. I want you to pray this prayer with me. Father, thank you that you are the God who inspects the finished work and doesn't miss the smallest thing done in secret. For the one listening, I pray, for the one listening who has worked for years and never once been told that they counted, they mattered. Well done. I ask that you would speak over them right now. I ask that you speak over them right now what they have been aching to hear. Let them feel your pleasure resting not on their performance, but on the finished work of your son Yeshua. Teach us that obedience isn't a cage but the language of love. And make us a people who bless the quiet, faithful work of others the way you bless the work in that tent. Pray this, we pray this, all of us pray this, only through the name of Yeshua, your son. Amen. Look, today, it might be the day you stop trying to earn a well done that you could never finish, you could never finish earning. You never, no matter what you do, you're never gonna earn that. Maybe today is the day you want to stand on the finished work of Yeshua instead. Then pray this and mean this with me. Don't just read it. Mean it. Pray this with me, Yeshua. I need you. I believe that you're the risen Son of God, that you died for me, and you rose again. I surrender my life to you today. I ask that you forgive me. Lead me. I am yours. In your name. Amen.
