The Eighth Day Came!

You've been standing at the door a long time. Whatever it is, the job that hasn't opened, the healing that hasn't come, the gift you're certain God, you're absolutely confident God gave you a gift. But nobody's ever asked you to use it. You did everything He said. You got ready, and then nothing happened. And then nothing kept happening. Now you can't tell whether you're waiting on God or maybe look, maybe did I mishear him? Like at the beginning of all this, did I did I not understand? I want to show you four words this morning. They open a chapter, and most people read right past them. And they matter more than anything else I'll say today. This is True Word, Faith for Life with Dr. Sean. I'm Sean. We're on day 94. Just drop in the number. A week, a month, a year, ten years? All your life? How long have you been waiting on the thing you're waiting on? I want to see, I want you to see the company you're standing in. So, here's where we are. Yesterday we left Aaron and his sons at the door of the tabernacle. They're washed, they're clothed, they're anointed, they're atoned for, their hands are filled, they're fully qualified, every last ceremony complete, and then they're told to stay put for seven days and not go out. Seven days at the door. Prepared. Totally compared, prepared, and not yet permitted. In chapter 9, verse 1, it opens with four words, and it came to pass on the eighth day. In Hebrew, that's four words. I know, probably counting it in your head going, well, that sounds like oh six or seven or eight. No, no, no, Hebrew, it's four words. So chapter 9, verse 1, four words, four Hebrew words. And it came to pass on the eighth day. Wow. The eighth day came. It always does. The waiting was real, and it had a length, and the length was not forever. But maybe you're in a seven-day stretch, and maybe this morning you're in a seven-day stretch, and you're like, been waiting a long time. Hey, these fellas were waiting at the door for eight days. It was showtime on the eighth day. So I I will say this that patience is something that we don't have much of. I get messages from people, I don't even know who they are. Um, you know, they send me messages saying, first of all, sit up. And uh I always love that because uh I have a spinal injury and I can't. So there. And um, and then I get messages, can you talk faster? Or dude, talk faster. What's with the slow talk? Brain injury. As fast as I can go. And what I have found is that people do not hear because they're only one quarter listening, right around 23, 23 and a half percent listening. So talk a little slower. And what we teach here is more challenging to learn than what you're probably accustomed to teaching. Or accustomed to learning. So seven days. Day one, I'm sure. Alright. Alright, guys. And we're gonna we're gonna be the priests here and atone for the sins of Israel, and and we're gonna do the things and all the wear and that this and that. We got our already got it on, we got the oil in our beards, and eh, it's really nice. Makes our beards look nice, makes them feel nice, awful soft, and you know, blah blah blah. And then day two, day two comes. Okay, maybe it takes a little while. And then day three, and then day four, and then day five, day six. Hold on. Did I hear this correctly? Right? We're this door, right? We're to stand at this door. Could you ever be waiting on somebody? You're you're meeting them to pick them up, or even worse, you're the person waiting to get picked up. You're waiting to get picked up. And you're waiting around and you're trying to figure it out. How am I? Did I get did I tell them the wrong day, the wrong time? Because they're not here. You get started getting nervous. I used to come home from the military and I lived far, far, far from the airport, you know, three and a half, four hours from the airport. And my aunt and uncle, uh, Uncle Charles and Aunt Mary Lee, and uh they would pick me up because I've come from all kinds of places around. And uh I would fly in at sometimes three o'clock in the morning. Let me tell you what, that's back in the day when you could just drive right up to baggage clan. Whoop. And uh so they would be there, dressed to the nines. Whole huge dinner of everything I loved at back there at the house. We'd eat. We'd laugh. Sweet. But they were always on time.

Early.

What if you're there waiting? What if you arrive and five years. Thank you. Thank you, Nicole. She she heard the assignment. And she did it. No pressure on y'all. So it's harder, I think, sometimes when you when you are told to prepare and you oh you're you're doing all the things. You do everything, everything you were told to do. We were joking, Miss Colleen and I were joking yesterday about Marco Rubio and his wife were being interviewed by Katie Miller. Um, and he was talking about uh how he likes to get to the airport really, really, really early, and it stresses him out not to be, you know, really, really, really early. And um his wife is a lovely person, hardcore believer, and uh she's a lot more laid back than him. And she says, look, have we ever been late? Ever? We'll close. Have we ever missed a flight? Ever? Almost. But did we? I rest my case. So I want you to imagine these people, and they're they're serious people. They're not they're not light people, you know what I mean? They're not coking and joking, as we used to say in the military. They're not coking and joking and goofing around and what am I supposed to be waiting for? Well, Robbie asks, well, what am I supposed to be waiting for? Um, anything. You've you you've felt like you were supposed to be prepared for something. You were sure that you were called to something, and you were supposed to be prepared, and you got prepared, and then nothing happened. All that preparation, you waited and waited and waited, and God never called you to to do it. Get in the game. Sometimes we withhold our own selves from the game. And by sometimes I mean almost all the time. Sometimes God holds us back. Because we think we're ready and we're not. The eighth day. The eighth day for these. I mean, the eighth day came and and it always does come. And the waiting was real and it and it had length, and the length was not forever. So if you're in a seven-day stretch this morning, take a deep breath. Take a deep breath. It's okay. God isn't indifferent to how long you've been waiting at the door. That's what we call an eighth day. And on that eighth day, Aaron goes to work. And watch what God tells him to bring. Verse 2. Take thee a young calf for a sin offering, a calf. The Hebrew there is egel, egel, the same word used back in Exodus 32 for what Aaron melted out of people's gold. I'm not going to overread it here. The text doesn't draw the line for us, but I don't think it's an accident that on the first day of his priesthood, the man who made the golden calf brings a calf as his own sin offering. Little things don't mean a lot, they mean everything. He doesn't pretend it didn't happen, he brings it right back into the room. He covers it and he puts the man to work anyway. Whatever your calf was, he won't pretend you never made it. He'll atone for it. And then he'll use you. Even on his first, even on his first day, you know, you get ready for school, right? I I loved the first days of school. Loved it. I I did. I don't know about you, but I I loved it. I know we have some school teachers. And so you know, it's uh it's kind of a cool thing, you know. When you're a kid, maybe you had some new clothes, day one of school, maybe some new shoes. Some new uh you know, some composition books, some three-ring binders, binders that smelled kinda cool. Some pencils. Those erasers.

You're all ready. You're all ready.

I want you to notice that on this first day, verse 7, even on his first day, the priest makes atonement for himself before he makes atonement for the people. He can't carry the nation until he's been carried himself. Then the promise God attaches to the day, verse 6. This is the thing which the Lord commanded that you should do. And the glory of the Lord shall appear unto you. God tells them in advance what's coming. So the glory at the end of the chapter. It isn't something God improvised because he was impressed. It was promised before a single animal was ever offered. Never a reward for a job well done, a gift announced ahead of time. So Aaron works. He works. Verses 8 through 21, the whole system in motion for the first time, everything we've walked through all week, finally done by a real man with real blood on his hand. And then verse 22, where the Hebrew hands you something, your your English almost hides. Your King James says, Aaron lifted up his hands, singular, and blessed them. Most modern translations say his hands, plural. The Hebrew carries both a written form and a spoken one. In the reading tradition, lands on hands, two of them. Which is exactly the priest's gesture of blessing. Both hands in the air. Hold on to that, it comes back. It comes back fifteen hundred years later. By the way, can you all hear me? Are you listening? Because there's about to be some big developments here. His very first initial act after, you know, the big spool up, the big weight. And he does it, he does what he's supposed to do. His very first official act after the offerings are finished. It isn't a rebuke. It isn't even an instruction. It's a blessing. He turns to the people, hands in the air, and he speaks good over them. I wonder if you might know what he said. Those who have been listening a while, you might know. I want you to notice when he does it. Before the glory appears. Aaron blesses them on nothing but the word of God, with no confirmation, anything has been accepted. He blesses in faith, on the promise, in the silence before the fire. Then verse 23: Moses and Aaron go into the tent. They come out and they bless the people together. And the glory of the Lord appeared unto all the people. Put a pen in that one. And then verse 24. And there came a fire out from before the Lord, and consumed upon the altar and the burnt offering and the fat, which when all the people saw, they shouted and they fell on their faces. Fire came out from before the Lord. Not from a flint. Not from some torch somebody threw over there. Not from some torch somebody carried over. God sent the fire himself, and it fell on the sacrifice. And I don't know if you remember, but try to remember three days ago. Remember what we what we read three days ago in chapter six? The fire on this altar shall never go out. I told you then that the priest's job was never to start the fire, only to keep it. This is where that fire came from. God struck the match. Every priest, for generations after, carrying out ashes and laying on fresh wood, they were only tending a flame God Himself kindled on the eighth day. I want you to think about who had seen the glory until now. It was Moses. Moses on the mountain. Elders on a slope. Always the few, always up high, always away from the camp. But on the eighth day comes down to ground level in front of everyone. The people whose names aren't even in the chapter. God never meant to be enjoyed privately by a few who just report back. He came where the ordinary could see. I consider myself pretty ordinary. I know about you, but I'm pretty ordinary. Pretty much a regular dude. I'm thankful. So here's a step for you today. And it's small enough to actually do. You can do this one. Aaron blessed the people before there was any evidence anything had been accepted. Hands up in the silence on nothing but the promise.

The next part might scare you a little bit.

Today, not tomorrow, not after you've thunked, you've had a good think on it. Today. Do that for one person. Pick somebody who has no they have no evidence anything is changing. The ones standing at their own door and speak good over them out loud. They've been standing at the door. Lord, when are you going to change this thing? By the way, not some vague praying for you. Say the actual thing. Text it, call it, say it across the kitchen. Bless them before the fire falls. That's the assignment. You want to hear it again? Aaron blessed the people before there was any evidence anything had even been accepted. He just trusted that it did. His hands were up. In the deafening silence on nothing but the promise of God. Today, today. Good morning, Brandon. Good morning. Great to see you. Thanks for joining. Today, I want you to do that for one person. I want you to pick somebody. They've needed something to change. They would to God that something would change. You're trying to figure out how does this thing how does this thing happen? Because I need something to change, and I've been waiting and waiting and waiting. I thought I was prepared, but maybe I missed something. Did I miss something? They're standing at their own door. They just need somebody to speak good over them out loud. Don't be vague. Say the actual thing. Text it. Call it. Say it across the kitchen, the front porch. Bless them before the fire falls. That's the assignment. Yeah. You say, I'm not a priest, man. If you only knew me, you can bless people. Don't have to be a priest to bless people now. Because three things, three things here run straight to Yeshua. Oh, I hope some of y'all got it. I hope some of y'all got it. They run straight to Yeshua. First, the atonement order, Aaron had to offer himself before he could offer for the people. And he had to do it every single time for the rest of his life. Hebrews takes that exact detail and says, our high priest isn't like that. He doesn't need to offer daily, first for his own sins and then for his for his people. For the people's sin.

No.

Because he did it once. And when he offered up himself, Aaron's hands were never clean. Yeshua's always were. And that's why once was enough. Once was enough. Second, the lifted hands. Aaron finished the sacrifice, turned to the people, and lifted his hands to bless them. Now I want you to go to the last page of Luke's gospel. Yeshua leads his disciples out to Bethany, and Luke says, He lifted up his hands, and he blessed them. And while he blessed them, he was parted from them and carried up into the heaven. You see it? The last thing our high priest did on this earth, the work finished, was to lift his hands over his people and speak good over them. And he went up like that.

Hands raised, mid-blessing.

That's the posture he's in right now. Whatever you think God's face looks like toward you this morning, take a look at Luke 24. Hands up. Blessing you. And then third, the fire. Fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the offering in front of everybody. God's public declaration was that the sacrifice was accepted. So watch where that fire falls next. At the cross, it fell on him. It fell on Jesus. It fell on Yeshua. He was the offering entirely consumed. And God raised him on the third day as his public declaration that it was accepted. It was complete. It was accomplished. It was finished. And then, in an upper room on people told to stay put until they were clothed with power, there came a sound from heaven in tongues like as of fire. And it sat on each of them. Fire out from before the Lord again, only now it didn't fall on any altar. It rested on people. Because you are the temple now, and the fire lives in you. I have for you today a challenge and a choice. You can keep reading your seven days as a verdict, deciding the silence means you were never actually called, or you can stand there like someone who has been washed and clothed and filled by someone else. Wait out a weight that has a length and bless somebody else while you're still standing in. That's what Aaron did. And on the eighth day, the fire fell where everybody could see it. Prayer isn't asking for an easy journey, it's asking for a strong back. Pray with me. Heavenly Father, you know exactly how long some of us have been at this door. You know the ones who got ready years ago and are still waiting to be sent. We thank you, Father, that the waiting in your hands has a length, and that you have never once forgotten someone. You've never once let someone just be left standing there. Thank you that you tell us in advance that you tell us what you're going to do, and nobody thinks your glory is earned by impressing you. And for the ones who are carrying a calf they made long ago, thank you that you don't pretend it never happened. Thank you that you covered and that you put them to work. Give us courage to bless somebody today before we can see anything at all. And I pray this in Yeshua, your son's matchless name, our Redeemer, our Savior, and our King. Amen. Look, if you've never, if you've never come to Him at all, you've never come to Christ. You've never placed your faith in Christ. Come today. What are you waiting on? I'd love to know what it is you're waiting on. We've already told you, can't ever get clean enough. Come just as you are. What's the point of waiting and scrubbing? Remember yesterday we talked about standing at the the kitchen and scrubbing our our bodies raw. Just seems like seems like it's time to grasp the other way. The thing you've been resisting, the thing that you've fought against. You've been making it harder than it is. You don't have to wait. You don't have to wait for the fire to fall to find out whether he'll receive you. The offering was already made, already consumed, and God already declared it accepted when he raised his son from the dead. Pray this with me. Look, don't wait. Don't wait another day. Let go. Come to the Lord. This is how. Pray with me. Yeshua, I need you. I believe you died for me and rose from the grave. I surrender my life to you today. Please forgive me. Fill me and lead me. I'm yours. In your name. Amen. If you prayed that, the offerings it's been accepted. Fire's fallen. And there are hands lifted over you in heaven right now. Tell somebody today. It doesn't matter how they respond. It doesn't matter. You're just telling them, you're making it public. You're showing them you're not ashamed. No, you don't know all the answers. You're not going to get into big theological discussion. Why would you? Tell somebody. Find people who follow Yeshua and let them walk it with you. I know. I'll be happy to. The same man who made a calf out of gold. He's now bringing a calf. Hands lifted over a people in the silence before there were there was even one thing to see. And then fire out from before the Lord on a day he had promised in advance. He never asked you to strike the match. Only to wait and to bless you while you waited.
