TRUE Word, Faith for LIFE!
TRUE Word, Faith for LIFE!
You have sat through Bible teaching that never changed a thing. Opinions dressed up as truth. Depth that needed a seminary degree to follow, or shallowness that asked nothing of you at all. This is not that. True Word, Faith for LIFE! walks the whole Bible in a year, in order, the way the story was actually told. I take the Hebrew and the Ancient Near Eastern world Scripture was born in and make it plain, so you see what the first hearers saw, then walk out knowing what to do with it today. No watering down. No insider language. Every episode lands on Yeshua, and every episode lands on your real life. If you're tired of confusion and ready to actually live your faith instead of just studying it, you belong here. The Bible in a Year: Walking the Story of God Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM Eastern, live Sundays, 6:30 PM Eastern, live The Book Find it in the STORE at the top of the site. This book was written for the person tired of religious pieces, tired of confusion, and ready for God's Word to make sense in real life. Walk this journey with me. Faith for LIFE. That runs about a third the length and leads with the punch instead of the handshake. One real tradeoff to call: I stripped the decorative emojis because they're most of what makes the current page read as generic. If you want the page to stay scannable for mobile, adding one functional icon back on the schedule and book headers is defensible. Losing the 🔥 and ⭐ is not. © 2026 Dr. Shawn M. Greener. Good morning. What in the world are you doing this early in the morning? All over camp. Good to see our friend from Nigeria back. It's 12 noon in Nigeria right now. What part of Nigeria are you in? I missed that. Good morning, Miss Susan. Miss Sharon. Uh it's good to be here with you. Miss Tammy, so nice to see you. Miss Nicole bright and early. Sean spelled correctly. Good to see you. And all the others that are popping in that I'm seeing that I'm scrolling. Scrolling, scrolling, scrolling. Look, it's good to see all of you. I'm happy you're here. You make a difference.

SPEAKER_01

And uh I think that's that's a plus. Wouldn't you agree? Now I usually like to tell you when the episode is maybe gonna rattle you a little.

SPEAKER_00

Today would be one of those Lagos. Okay. I've been to Lagos. I did some work in Lagos. Yeah. Hey, to be continued 25. Good to see you, brother. Good morning. Look, you never you're never more hello to everybody that I don't even see and people that aren't clicking in. Yesterday, we had around a thousand people listening. Day before, uh, just under 3,000. Actually, we all totaled 3,000 with the horizontal and the so God bless you. Thank you for for tuning into True Word, Faith for Life with Dr. Sean. S-H-A-W-N, the one with about 4,000 subscribers or a small channel. So let's be real here. You're never more yourself than when nobody can correct you. You know what I'm saying? You tracking? The cranky kids at the end of a long day. You know they can't fight back. And they want supper. Upper hand. The submissive employee. Good morning, Miss Katarina. Good to see you. Thank you for joining. You know, maybe you're a boss, maybe you're a mid-level manager, upper-level, I don't know. But you've got a submissive employee, and you know they need the job. So that employee will do just about anything you ask them to do. Extra stuff that's not their job? Somebody else's job? Your job? Good morning, Miss Linda. God bless you. Good morning, Miss Colleen. How about a sound check if somebody could hook a brother up? How about the spouse that learned not to push? Maybe? Because pushing has a high price. How about the aging parent? You didn't have the best relationship with them. Now they depend on you. Thank you, Miss Colleen. Now they depend on you for everything. We all have small kingdoms. I like to think of them as small kingdoms. In your own little small kingdom, you hold the power. Thank you, brother. In your little small kingdom, you hold all the power. You're the boss. You're the king. You're the queen. Something sometimes comes out. In that small kingdom where you hold all the power, sometimes something squeaks out. Maybe it's the sharp word, maybe it's the control. Maybe it's the frustration. Maybe it's the score you settle. Oh yeah? Is that right? Remember when you did this? I'll just tell you for real. That was me. That was me. I settled some scores with people that were supposed to have my my uh thank you, sir. Thank you. Uh, or ma'am. Um I I did that. I'm probably guilty of some of those. I don't know about you. I don't know your life. I don't know. Well, you know, God knows. That score you settled, that was a big one for me. That version of you, the one who shows up when there are no consequences. That's closer to the real you. The real you. Well, that's maybe a lot closer to the real you than the polished one everybody sees. You have a deep and loving heart. There's no doubt about that. But just just sometimes in those times, maybe it's when you're tired, maybe it's when you're frustrated, maybe it's when you're just overloaded. You do have a deep and loving heart, just in those certain times. And you know the ones. Those times in which you know consciously or subconsciously that you have the influence. Power doesn't corrupt us, it reveals us, turns up the volume on what was already there. And maybe you're the look. I mean, if we're being real. Thank you, Miss Nicole. God bless you. Look, maybe you're the other person in that picture. I don't want to assume. And there's nothing wrong with being the other person. Some people are owners and bosses and managers, and some people are are employees. There's nothing at all wrong with that. But maybe you're the other person, maybe you're the kid. I didn't know it, but we have several kids who listen. They're um there's a homeschool organization that listens. They they listen to this. I didn't, I had no idea. So welcome. Welcome, accountable KJV3295 and Captain Crunch. Man, do I love Captain Crunch too much? But you know when I eat Captain Crunch cereal, I don't know about you, but it eats the inside of my mouth. Woof! But it's worth it. I keep eating it. I don't eat it now, but I used to. Anyway, welcome. Look, maybe, maybe you're the other person in the room. You're not the boss, maybe the kid, maybe you're the employee. We have listeners who who are in a very delicate work situation. And they're getting taken advantage of. Maybe you're the one that couldn't fight back. You can't fight back. You don't have the you don't have the power. You don't have the control, you don't have the influence. I want you to stay with me. Either way, whichever one you are, stay with me. God has something here for you today, too. God knew this long before we did, by the way, when he set up the most powerful office in Israel. He did what the kings around Israel never would. He put limits on it. All the other kings around Israel, I don't want any limit. Uh-uh. But he put limits on the Israeli kings on purpose. And he aimed every one of them at the heart. By the way, I guess I should mention this is True Word Faith for Life with Dr. Sean. I'm Sean. Welcome to day 128, if you can believe it. You know how I know? Because I just looked down there and I said, tell them it's day 128. And it is Thursday, October 1st. Welcome to October. Some of you have listened and been here every single day. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Sunday, 6 30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Some of you have been here for every single one. Advent 801, I think Jesus never died. He's still alive. Well, he most assuredly died, but he is absolutely alive. Through the Bible in a year, we're walking the story of God. We're in Deuteronomy 17 through 20. And chapter 17 holds the strangest job description a king ever had. Hey, by the way, my second book, not really my second book, it's probably my third or fourth, but True Word Faith for Life. True Word, Faith for Life. Yes, I did take the photo. Textbook quality, it'll last you forever. True WordFaithforLife.com store. Go on over there and get you one. Maybe get you two or three. It's built so that you can use it as a devotional for a year, two years, whatever you like. True WordFaithforLife.com is a big resource for you. It's free. Everything there's free except for the book. If I could give it away, I would. If I could, I would. So this book was written for the person that's tired of religious peace, is tired of confusion. And they're ready for God's word, scripture, the Bible, to make sense in real life. You can find it at Truewordfaith for Life.com. Store. So, you know, you can put this in there if you want. If you don't have to, if you don't want to. One word, I'm not looking for a book. Before we go to the text, we're fixing to go to the text. When you hold all the power in the room, this is a question. I mean, it's a real question. You can answer it if you want. You might think, well, maybe I will answer this and maybe I'll keep that one to myself. When you hold all the power in the room, every bit of it, every bit of it. Do you get softer and gentler? Or do you get sharper and more controlling? You can write softer or sharper, whichever one it is. You already know the answer. Here's where we are. Yesterday God told Israel to open their hands, right? Remember? I told him to open their hands. Today he turns to the people who will hold the most power in the land. The judges, the priests, the prophets, and a king. He turns to them now, right? He talked to the people yesterday. But now he's talking to the bosses. He's talking to the ones who hold sway over the people who don't have any power. Judges, priests, prophets, and a king. And and you know, my thing is ancient Near Eastern language, culture, and context. It's my specialty. That's what I love. I found it to be very much worthwhile to go deep into that, so much so that, you know, I anyway, pursued a lot of education, which I'm finished with that, by the way. I'm always learning, but I'm finished with going to school. To hear this the way Israel heard it. To know, you gotta know what a king was in the ancient Near East. Where this is happening, right? This is happening in the ancient Near East. Scripture, uh really, for the for the farthest and most point is happening in the ancient Near East, right? It's different world, different culture, different languages. So in Egypt, Pharaoh was worshipped as a god in human form. In Mesopotamia, Hammurabi carved his laws on a stone pillar that opens by praising Hammurabi. Right? It's the very pretty much the very first set of laws for the general civilians. Kings took the horses, the land, the gold, and sealed treaties by marrying other kings' daughters. Hopefully that king had some cute daughters, if you know what I'm saying, because you know. But maybe they didn't care at all. I hate dirty glasses. These aren't dirty either. I'm just brain injured, and all I see is the spot. I'll have to wash them. So, I made them worse. Golly. Can you imagine? I gotta wash them. Post-con post-concussion syndrome. That's what I have. I have a TBI, of many TBIs, but for the military and post-military activities. And then I had a real horrible crash. If you're new here. And um, so then I fell. A few weeks, well, late August, hit my head on concrete, couldn't even didn't even know I was falling. And uh bounced my head off a concrete sidewalk. Yeah. So went to the neurologist yesterday after going to a bunch of other doctors, and turns out I have post-concussion syndrome. So we'll see how that goes. Has nothing to do with being a king or being a king's daughter. I just thought I would tell you, because I mentioned it yesterday, and some of you have been praying. You know how it is. Hey, uh, could you pray for me? By the way, Kim used to listen. She's real busy. Let's pray for her. Remember to pray for her. I don't, some of you maybe remember Kim. Um, she's got a lot going on in her life. She needs some peace, some shalom. So I I want you to I want you to picture living under that, under that kind of life. You're a farmer. Let's pick a farmer. I love farmers. I think farmers are awesome. Uh, I hope you think farmers are awesome too, because don't eat without farmers. It's a hard job. So your son, and it was even more, it was even harder then because, you know, they didn't have John Deere tractors and whatnot. What would it have you? So you're a farmer and your son gets drafted into the king's chariots, right? Hey, this is what you're gonna do. You're gonna be on this chariot and you're gonna run this chariot. That's what you're gonna do. And then the king says, Hey, I'm taking your field. It goes to my friends. This is the king. The king comes to you and says, I'm I'm taking them. I'm giving them to my friends. And there's no court to appeal to because the king is the court. Joshua Benjamin 46, 16. What difference does that make to what we're talking about today? Anything? Does it make anything? I don't understand. I don't understand why. What's the purpose? What's the connection here? Because there isn't. There's no tether to the teaching. So power flowed up the throne, and and the throne swallowed it. But that world had one other kind of king. Let me let me just say this. I don't know if you've ever sat under teaching of a pastor that's tyrannical in a church, very tyrannical. Um, it's different places are coming out now that they are um, you know, it's turning out that the pastors were really tyrannical leaders. That's a problem. So, anyway, I'll let that sit there for you. But the world had one other kind of king, the vassal. When a great king made a treaty with a smaller one, the smaller king kept a copy and read it again and again. So he'd never forget who he answered to. Now, put that in your head, hold that picture in your head. Because God's about to set up Israel's king as the little king. The great king is Adonai, Elohim. I want you to listen to how the office begins. You ready? Deuteronomy 17, verse 15. God allows a king, but he he must be one from among your brothers, not a foreigner, not a god, a brother. Then here's the limits. Verses 16 and 17. He must not acquire many horses for himself. Horses and chariots were the tanks of this world. They were the tanks, they were the M1s. Chariots, that was a big deal. You got chariots, man. You got some power. So God caps his armies, he must not acquire many wives, or his heart will turn away. Wives meant treaties. So God caps his alliances. And he must not acquire excessive silver and gold. Listen, God caps his wealth. Army, alliances, wealth. God fences off everything a king reaches for. Kings don't go, you know, I'm gonna pull the pull the walls of the kingdom in it just a little bit. Just a bit. No, they want to spread out. Towns call it annexing. We're annexing. That always comes at higher taxes for the people who lived fine without being annexed. So then comes the strangest requirement of all. Verse 18. When he sits on the throne, he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book. The Hebrew here is Mishnehatrah. That means a copy of this law. And here the translations, different ones, part ways on how the priests fit in. We'll just pick two. The ESV, English Standard Version, says the copy is approved by the priests and the tribe of Levi. The NASB, New American Standard Bible. Now, both of them, um, they'll they they're using the um scrolls from the caves of Qumran that were found over the course of 11 years. I talk about that in other episodes. They're all free. Anyway, that's the most recent finds. Some of them were, some of the books of the scriptures, the scrolls were 95% intact. The most ever. Anyway, so the New American Standard Bible says he writes it in the presence of the priests. The Hebrew word is malifne. Melifne. Literally from before them. Either way, look at what it means. The king doesn't write his own rules, he copies God with the priests watching. And the Greek translators, they called this phrase now a little bit of uh Greek here. It's not the easiest, it's a little bit tricky. You would pronounce it deuteronomy. Tuto Deuteronomy Tuto. It's a wow word. That's where we get the word Deuteronomy. That's what the Greek translators called this phrase, the second law. Deuteronomy. Come on. The second law. That is literally where we get the name Deuteronomy for this book. Now I want you to hold on to this picture. The most powerful man in the nation sits down with a pen and copies God's word by hand. Good morning. Good morning, Miss Susan. Can you imagine this? The most powerful person in the whole nation, right? Whatever nation, the nation of Israel here, sits down with a pen. Sits down with a pen. Copies God's word by hand, word by word. I don't know if he used this kind of pen or this kind of pen.

unknown

Probably didn't.

SPEAKER_00

Probably used a different one. They sit down with this pen and they copy God's word by hand, word for word. Every stroke puts them under the same word as the poorest farmer in Israel. Imagine that? Why? Why? Verses 19 and 20. He shall read it. He shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, that his heart may not be lifted above his brothers. Come on, let's go back and read it a little bit differently, because it's important to read it a little bit differently. Are you ready? He shall read in it all the days of his life, that he may learn to fear the Lord, his God, that his heart may not be lifted above his brothers. Lifted up above his brothers. There it is. Every limit aims at one target, the heart. Oh, we hate that. Don't we hate that? Every limit. Every limit in that path. It it targets the heart. God isn't worried the king maybe will run the country badly, although some of them did. He's worried the king will forget he's a brother. So the man on the throne reads himself back down to size every single day. Hey man, don't get so full of yourself. Don't get so full of yourself. A little bit of humbling. Did it work? Well, Solomon, the wisest king Israel ever had, and a little bit we're going to hear from him. You're right, when we get to that part. Good morning, Robbie. A little, you know, not that far down the road, we're going to read a whole bunch of Solomon. And Solomon was considered to be the wisest king Israel ever had. He imported chariots and horses from Egypt. 1 Kings 10, verses 26 and 28. He collected 700 wives. 1 Kings 11, verse 3 and verse 4. Woo, 700 wives. Can you imagine? I don't even. Too much, too much. Imagine the birthdays. He would eat cake all the time. He'd be fat as could be. All the time eating cake. I'd choose ice cream cake if it's me. Although I really love a brownie. Miss Colleen made me a special brownie. I'm not the king. No, no way, shape, or form. Only got one wife, so, but she still made me a brownie, and she did dressed it all up with strawberries and ice cream and whipped cream and a marashino cherry. It was awesome. Now, let's get past that 700 wives, 1 Kings 11, verse 3, because woof. Because then we have verse 4. They turned his heart away. Every limit in Deuteronomy 17, broken by the wisest man who ever held the throne. Wisdom doesn't protect you from power. Staying under the word does. Listen, I talk about it all the time. I say, look, if you want to know God, if you want to have an understanding to the extent that we can of God, if you want to have a relationship with Yeshua, if you want to have a relationship with Adunai Elohim, if you want to work within the Rakakadesh, the Holy Spirit, you've got to have your nose in this book. Every day. Every day. Not at the end of the day. Not at the beginning of the day. Not at when you can fit it in. You make a spot, you put in this little thing right here. Everybody walks around, totes them. Put it in there. Make persistent reminders so that you don't forget. You don't put it off. You don't go, I'm gonna get to that later. It's just like praying. I have a prayer reminder. Different points during the day. Stop what you're doing and pray. One of them has a totally different thing. I talked about it to explaining some of the different um, some of the different things we have in our faith in general, we think is one from one tradition, but it's not. Didn't originate there. And I use that to help me stay focused. Stay focused. And Rahmine, you see, the Jews, the observant Jews. There was one yesterday, a lady, who was praying through her prayers, you know, sukkut and and all the different uh you have different prayers that you pray. And she was waiting to be called, and so she I saw her over there. Uh I was at the VA hospital or clinic, whatever it's called, and she was reading and moving. That's what you'll see at the at the at the Western Wall in in Israel. You see that, there's a reason for it. I'll talk about that in other episodes. Anyway, listen, the guardrails don't stop at the throne, by the way. Chapter 19, verse 15. By the way, thank you to Robbie. Chapter 19, verse 15, Deuteronomy. Thank you, Robbie, for suggesting I put the first numbers and the chapter numbers in there. I kind of fly past it. So I've been doing that from here on out. I hope you noticed. Chapter 19, verse 15. No one can be condemned on one accuser's word. It takes two or three witnesses. And then in chapter 20, verses 19 and 20, even in a siege, don't cut down the fruit trees. The strong don't get to take everything they can just because they can. This is why the uh the Islamists, when they attack Israel, they love to rocket the olive trees, they love to rocket the fruit trees, the pomegranate trees. They love to do it because of this verse. The strong don't get to take everything because they can. And then tucked back into chapter 18, verse 15, a promise. Sometimes we read over it. We say, Oh, I want to get right to the New Testament. I'm in a hurry. I'm trying to get through the Bible in a year, and I got all these little boxes. I'm ticking that box and ticking that box. Look at me, I'm through the Bible in a year. Don't be in a rush. Are you listening? Talked back into chapter 18, verse 15. There is a promise. And if you're in a hurry, you're trying to read through, you're trying to be quick about it, well, you'd miss it. The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brothers. It is to him. You shall listen. Take a deep breath on that one, breathe it in, breathe it out, hold on to that one. Oh, this is for every one of us. Because you hold more power than you'll admit. Look, you may never sit on a throne. But you're in charge of somebody. A child, a teen, a classroom, a spouse who stopped arguing, a parent who needs you now. And in that small kingdom, the test God ran on Israel's king runs on you. Question is, will your heart lift itself above the people under you? I've worn a uniform several times. Navy. Go Navy, beat army. Then law enforcement at different levels. And I've been in organizations where you don't wear a uniform, but you got authority, a whole lot of authority over people who can't argue back. But let me tell you something. That shows you who you are real fast, real quick. The polished public image that you present, the polished public you, that's not the test. The test is who you are when nobody can stop you. Who am I when no one can stop me? God's provision for the king is his provision for you. Not more willpower to be nice. It's not that. Oh, come on. Somebody tell me you didn't miss that. It'd be real easy to go, well, Lord, give me more willpower to be a nice person. But what happens if you put your nose in that book? You read it, you study it, you pray over it, you sweat on it. The oil from your hands. I always recommend cleaning your hands. You can use a hand sanitizer or wash your hands with soap and water. I always wash my hands before I'm going to touch the word of God. You do what you want to do.

SPEAKER_01

Just for me. That's how I do it.

SPEAKER_00

You're not praying for because God's provision for the king. It's the same. It's it's the same here on whatever day you're listening to this, whether live October 1st, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. We also do Sundays at 6 30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. We bring it all together. I do a blog, it's free. Blog and a study guide. It's all copyrighted. Everything I do, everything I speak, everything I write is copyrighted. Ask me how I learned that the hard way. To be a patient person. To be a complimentary person, it's not that. You're not asking for that. God's provision for the king, same for you. How about that? King and you. Level, even. A daily return to the word. And that reminds you that the people, whatever people or whatever influence, under you, when you do a daily return to the word, it reminds you that the people under you are your brothers and sisters. They're not your subjects. Yeah, yeah, yesterday I talked about, hold on a second, it's my buddy Tima. My favorite teacher. Oh, you're so nice, Tima. Thank you. Good lands, you're so kind. Tima is awesome. What an awesome story. I would love to have you tell your story one time on this episode, on this uh podcast. Keep up the good work. Love the suggestion. Wash your hands before it. Thank you, brother. What an awesome human being. He has overcome so much and accomplished so much. Unreal. So listen, it's so easy, right? We get in, we get in our grind, our daily grind, right? And we find people that we can influence, we find people that we can push a little bit, we find people we can bark at a little bit, and they won't say anything. They always talk about it at the VA when I'm there. I'm there every week. Um, because I'm under this intense constant care. And and uh, and they always talk about it, about how um easygoing and complimentary I am, and that I'm grateful that this gratitude just emanates from me. Well, they're right. I am super grateful. Um they've given great care, I think, through God, and using them as a tool, they're the only reason I'm still alive. Supposed to be gone a long time ago, and now I'm living at the razor's edge of life and death. They're a massive help to me, but sometimes some maybe aren't at their top, not at the top of their game. And they think, ooh, I got a lot of power here. Well, they mistake my kindness for weakness. They mistake my brain injury for a lack of intellect, an ability to express myself and utilize my resources. I'm using that as an example, it's true. But maybe you're in a situation where you run up on some folks. Listen, brothers and sisters, you all are my brothers and sisters. I'm not above you. Behind that screen is a bunch of degrees and and sheepskin. Yeah, it took a lot of work, decades, but I'm no better than you. A daily return to the word. You're welcome, Tima. Missed you, brother. A daily return to the word. I you know, I said it, I said, I talked about, um, I started to say this and then I opt off on the VA thing. I I I kind of went off yesterday talking about why people don't want to come to the church. And I did a short. We made a little short or whatever, real, whatever it is. Whatever it is.

unknown

I don't know what it is.

SPEAKER_00

With captions and all that. It's like a minute. Anyway, talking about why people, and I talked about the religious rottweilers that sit on the porch of churches and bark at people. They just bark, bark, bark. Don't do this, do this. Your hair's wrong. You're you got tattoos, you shouldn't have them. Uh blah, blah, blah. I do a thing on tattoos too. All tatted up. That's what it's called. Go, it's free on YouTube. True Word of Faith for Life of Dr. Sean, S-H-A W and it's the one with about 4,000 subscribers. Some of you were here when that had 60 subscribers. So, God bless you. Share it with somebody if you think this is of any benefit, anyway. We talk a lot about that because people forget. Who are our brothers and sisters? We're all in this thing together. We are all in this thing together. Good lands. We th why do we treat people ignorantly driving down the road? By the way, that little stalk on the left, go down for left, go up for right. I think you know where the horn is, but you don't know where the little turn signal is. Folks are rude. At least on the road around where I live, they're rude. Don't pay any mind to the speed limit. Some of those people have little bumper stickers on their cars that say, follow me to First Baptist Church of So-and-So. Follow me to Second, you know, Methodist, whatever. Man, if you're gonna be like that, take those stickers off your car. Well, I was in a hurry. You were going slow. No, I was going the speed limit. Passing on a double yellow line. Because your day is more important than others. That's your little kingdom. Remember, I said at the beginning, you start thinking of little kingdoms that you have. A daily return. I can't have some. I I wish I could. I wish I could show you the power of being in the Word, even if you just do like I do, I do the blogs and the study guides, and and some people have written to me and said, which I wish they would write a review. They go on and on about how they use it for their um, they run a small group and out of their church, and it far, far, far away. And um, they use every week they use my blog and study guide. And they're kind enough to copy the copyright when they copy, I make it so it can be copied and pasted on my website. You know how many, you know how many websites they put stops in there, so you can't do that? Well, I don't do that because I say this is for this is for God's people. This is for people who are seeking God. I don't want money to be an impediment or lack thereof. But they they copy it and they use it for their small groups. And they uh the one lady who is kind of in charge of the small group, she she came to me and she said, you know, I can't believe you give this to us. It's a lot of work, especially with this messed up, jacked-up brain. I'm just saying, the reason why I'm saying is don't, first of all, don't don't waste the sweat and the struggle. Use them. Go there and use them. They're free. I put all the resources bibliography, detailed, annotated footnotes, the whole schmear. I do it for you. It doesn't cost a thing. Well, it doesn't cost you, it costs me, but it does cost you. By the way, there you can leave me a message either on contact up at the top or on the side. There's a little thing on the side. Every now and then we get messages from people. It's two minutes, though, it's a voice message. I pay so you don't have to. You click on that. You'll you'll hear more about that in a minute. But but in that, in that, the lady told me, she said, the one thing that has really sunk in, two things really, with our small group, is the ancient Near Eastern language, culture, and context more important than we ever thought. Because we didn't really at first want to look. At the Old Testament. We want to stay in the new, you know, the gospel's so fun. I said, the gospel starts in the Old Testament. And she said, that's what the one thing we learned. But the other thing we learned is every day. Be in the Word every day. And she said, and there are some in our in our small group who did not have a physical Bible. They said, why would I need a physical Bible? I got like nine of them on here. Why would I do that? You know, I can search, I can do all that thing. And I'm constantly harping on it. I use it too. I use the, you know, two computers, really three, because the phone is a computer. Uh I use them vigorously. But man, when I bust this sucker out, or any of the other ones, because I'm always in them, they're sometimes they're all spread out on my desk or on the kitchen table, much to Miss Colleen's chagrin. Nah, she never complains. Never complains about Bibles all over the place and commentaries and whatnot. There's something about when you touch this every day, just like when you touch grass. If you live in a city, go touch some grass, get out your house. Feel it under your feet. Touch this every day. I can't tell you how critically important it is. Write notes in them. Miss Sharon, the other day, I preached at Virginia Creek Ministries. Thank you. Um, Pastor Russell Wright is the pastor there, and he was doing a revival or helping out with a revival at another church. So, Miss Sharon, she knows I like to write in my Bibles and write in, you know, that's why I did my book, True Word, Faith for Life. So I did it the way I did it. I gave you space to write your notes, and it's uh 60-pound paper, and it's ink that will not make you sick. A lot of inks make you sick. Anyway, she gave me these special kinds of highlighters. Love them. Love them. Oh, here's a and I talk about this, I do an episode on this, how to study God's Word. Listen, if you use a highlighter, which I love, use a highlighter, get a three by five index card. And wherever you're gonna highlight or wherever you're gonna write, slip that sucker under there where you're gonna write, gives you a little bit of a backing. Bible paper is thin for a reason. Super thin. If they use the kind of paper I used, the Bible you'd be trying to tow to be this thick, could you not? Be this thick. Anyway, I'm I'm chasing all kinds of bunnies. I love bunnies. I don't even eat bunnies, I love them. Oh, I wish I could. I wish I could influence you. I wish I did have some sort of kingly influence where I could say, hey, listen, you have to read the Bible every day. You have to touch it every day. Because it reminds you that the people in your orbit, they're your brothers and your sisters. They're not your subjects, they're not your underlings. You can't be trusted with power. You never place under something higher than yourself. That's a big deal. That's a big deal with God. Remember that. Oh, hurry. Miss Susan, I'm gonna hurry up here. I'm trying to wrap this thing up before you have to leave. You can't be trusted with power, you never place under something higher than you. I gotta answer to God, and I'm a jacked-up dude. If you're not nervous about the day you go and you stand before him and give an account, I am. You'll never do it more than when you when you have this book in your hand. You never, I'm just I'm just saying, you'll never do it more than when you're praying and reading his word. Because, like Miss Nicole said, by the way, she gets up at four in the morning and listen to this live, blows my mind. Some of you listen to it right before you, some of you are listening in bed on the big screen. I can't imagine me on a big screen TV, but you just got finished saving lives, and now you're going to bed. Thank you for doing what you do, by the way. You're in the right place at the right time. They are uh physicians, and they they they are truly saving lives every day. And they get home and they go to bed now because they're up all night. Gunshot wounds, stab wounds, people that you know try to take their own life by jumping or other means, drug overdoses. They say that's one of the biggest things they have. They live in a nice pretty nice city. Drug overdoses, middle-aged people, people with means, drug overdoses, they're addicted to drugs, heroin, fentanyl, you name it. Loneliness, the number one drug. It's the deadliest drug in the world, loneliness. I think that's why all this stuff starts with people. Listen, you want a real way to flesh this out in your own life. Here is your step. You can like it, or you don't like it. Name the one relationship where you hold power. Power, nobody checks you. Nobody checks you. You hold it. Where you're the most tempted to go sharp, name the one relationship where you hold power that nobody checks. Nobody says, No, nobody does that. The relationship where you're most tempted to go sharp instead of soft. Before you walk into that room, take that call. Sit down at the dinner. Put yourself under the word first. Read Deuteronomy 17, verse 20 out loud, that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers, then pray one sentence. God, keep my heart from rising above them. God, keep my heart from rising above them. I pray before this thing starts every morning. First of all, I'm amazed I can make it from the bedroom and the and the and the shower and all that stuff. And I come in here and I struggle to put on my clothes. And and um and then I get here and I wobble and I hit stuff and all that. And then I sit down here and I pray. And I say, God, give me whatever it is, because it isn't about me, it's about you. And I always remind myself, I have a little note that pops up. It's not about you, it's about them, it's about you. I'm a jacked-up dude, hurts habits and hang-ups, done plenty of stuff wrong. Trust me when I tell you, I have lived a kinetic life, and I've made some decisions that had horrific impact on other people. And I pray, God, use me in spite of me. Help them. So I want you to think about praying that one sentence. Deuteronomy 17, verse 20. Read it out loud that his heart may not be lifted up above his brothers. Then pray that one sentence. I'm not just saying it. God, keep my heart from rising above them. Then go in and use your power, because we all have a little bit more power than we think we do. Go in and use your power the way God uses his to protect and to serve, not to win. God has already won. I used to say, you know, when I was uh I was an athlete and I was a really good one. And um if I'd scored a goal or a knockout or um whatever sport I was playing, um got an ace in tennis or whatever, whatever, whatever it was. Um karate and and um fighting. We didn't call it MMA back then, but fighting and and soccer were my big things. And so but I always acted like I've been there. And I always used to say to people when I became a coach, I coached uh baseball and basketball. When I became a coach, I would always say to the kids, you know, they're from all kinds of different lives, you know, all kinds of different places in life, and and some came from rough, you know, super rough lives. And others came from, you know, they they their parents did well. And uh we were won a championship and all-star game two years in a row. And um I say that to say this that I would tell them, you know, you get a home run, you steal a base, act like you've been there. Act like you've been there. Do the class. Don't don't make it about you, make it about team. There's I don't I I How do I put this? Being in scripture every day and praying every day. It will humble you. Some folks don't want to be humbled. I want to win. I want to win at all costs. God will give you plenty of wins. I'm just asking for one room. Find a room in your house. Your car, maybe. Somebody sent me a message a little while ago and said, hey, I sit in my car and I listen before I go into my house. I listen in my car to you. And then I go in my house after a long shift of doing really rough things, and then I pick up the man. This person came to faith through this mission. If you think this doesn't matter, not me. I don't matter. This mission matters. This person came to faith through this. He sits in his car, and he listens to this, and he goes in and he picks up his Bible and he makes little notes. He has this little notebook that he uses for his work. I'll just tell you, he's in law enforcement, high-level law enforcement. And he makes the notes of the scriptures, and he goes, when he gets into the house, he takes his Bible, lays it on the table, and highlights the scriptures, and then we'll write a little note about it. Miss Sharon, I don't know if you've ever heard me talk about Miss Sharon's note-taking. It's it's exquisite. And just I will just tell you that that it is such an honor for me for folks to do that. So he's made that one room his car and then his kitchen. And I'm asking, try it for one day. One day I'm not asking for a million years. One day. Put your power under the word of God. Now, watch where the promise of chapter 18 leads. This should say something to you, should rock you a little bit too. God said he'd raise up a prophet like Moses or Moshe. Israel waited centuries, waited centuries for a prophet. Then in Acts 3, verses 22 and 23, Acts, the New Testament 3, verses 22 and 23, Peter or Kepha stood up. He stood in the temple and he quoted Deuteronomy 18. And he pointed at Yeshua on the mountain where his glory broke through. Listen to him. Listen. The very command from Deuteronomy 18. But watch what kind of king he turned out to be. John 13, verse 3. Yeshua knew the Father had given all things into his hands, all power, every throne. Then verse 4, he got up from the table, took off his outer garment, and wrapped a towel around his waist, and he knelt and washed the feet of men who would run from him that very night. One of my most prized possessions is a gift my son and wife gave me of an oil painting, a framed oil painting of Yeshua washing the feet of the disciples. Those are the same men who would run from him. And the king of kings and the Lord of Lords humbled himself. The king of Deuteronomy 17 had to copy the word to stay under it. Yeshua is the word. I am blown away by it. I'm just blown away by it. Yeshua is the word, capital W. John 1, verse 7, and Philippians 2, verses 6 through 8. He emptied himself and humbled himself to the point of even death on a cross. The one with all the power in his hands picked up a towel and washed dirty, nasty feet of the very people he knew would scatter when he needed them most. And if you're the one who got run over by somebody else's power, I want you to hear this. God wrote limits on kings because he sees the ones under the boot. The king with all the power didn't stand on your neck. He knelt at your feet. He offered to wash your feet. And for every time, maybe this is you, every time you used your power to crush someone, 2 Corinthians 5, verse 21. You might want to write that down. 2 Corinthians 5, verse 21. God made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Somebody breathe that in. And he went to the cross carrying every time we did abuse our power, carried it on his back. I have for you, whenever you're listening to this morning, noon, or night, a challenge and a choice. The choice is yours. It always is yours. Keep your power unchecked and let it reveal and harden the worst in you. Or do what the king had to do. Sit down every day under a word higher than yourself. And let it keep your heart from rising over the people you're meant to love. Unchecked power makes a tyrant in your own house. Power under the word of God makes you like your king. It's the throne or the towel. Which one are you picking up today? I want you to pray with me, but remember, prayer is it's not asking for an easy journey, it's asking for a strong back. Let's pray. Heavenly Father. You know who we are when nobody can stop us. You know us better than ourselves. You've seen the sharp word that we save for the people who can't fight back. The way our hearts rise over the very people we're meant to protect. Forgive us for the small kingdoms that we've ruled poorly. Put us back under your word every day. The way you required of the king. I pray that you read our hearts back down to size. Father God, for the ones who have lived under somebody's boot, be near. Let them know that you wrote limits because you love the ones underneath. I ask that you teach us to hold power the way Yeshua held it, with a towel in his hands. Thank you for the King who never once abused his power, not one time. I thank you that he carried our sin, our hurts, our habits, our hang-ups, all the way to the cross to set us free. I pray this in Yeshua Hamashiach's name. Amen. Look, maybe today you see it clearly. Today, finally, you can see it. Thank you, Sean. Spelled correctly. I appreciate that. I truly do. Today you see it clearly. You've misused the power you were given. And now all of a sudden you're looking at that going, oh wow, okay. Yeah, I didn't, I didn't I didn't think about that. Maybe it's over other people that work for you. Maybe it's under your children, maybe it's under your siblings, maybe it's the people, the people that you come into contact with that you think are lesser. And you don't talk to them quite nice. Maybe you've seen that clearly today for the first time, and you need to be forgiven and made new. Or maybe you're the one who got crushed. Seems like you're always underneath somebody's boot. You're welcome. You're welcome, C. God bless you. Good to see you. Welcome, Patricia. Welcome to you all. God bless you all. You're welcome, Tammy. God bless you. All of you, all the ones that's moving so fast now. I can't really catch it. Listen, either way, either way, he's reaching for you now. I want you to settle this once and for all. Settle it for eternity. Pray this with me. Look and pray and believe. You ready? Yeshua, I need you. I believe you died for me and rose from the grave. And that you live today. I surrender my life to you today. I ask you to forgive me. Fill me. Lead me. I'm yours. In your name. Amen. Listen. Patricia, it's a very good point. Maybe if I only knew who or what I am, I can help you with that. God can help you that. Absolutely. Stephen, agreed. Thank you for listening. 100% agreed. But Patricia, you know, a lot of us run around not knowing who we are, what we are. God is the one who can show us because he knows us better than anybody. And I can help you. If you reach out to me, love you too, brother. Reach out to me and through true wordfaithforlife.com, contact countless number of people, do it every day. I encourage you to do it. As soon as I receive that message, we'll either Email back and forth or text or whatever, whatever the means is best, and I'll help you. I promise you I will. Listen, if you prayed that prayer today, you came under the best authority there is. In Hebrew, it the word is ruakakodesh, the Holy Spirit. Now the Holy Spirit lives in you because you've invited him into your life, into your heart, into your into everything that you do. And that'll help you hold the power the way Yeshua did. If you did that, if you placed your faith in Christ today, just type the word towel in the chat or in the comments below. Why? Because so we can rejoice with you. Or send me a message on true wordfaithforlife.com. Contact. I'd love to rejoice with you. If you if you need any help, you want any help? I'm happy to do it. I live to do it. Maybe tell one believer this week. Just one. It'd be cool if you would do that. Why not? Why not? You know a believer. Sure you do. But maybe, maybe. You pick your mom, you say your mom would be happy as all get out, and maybe you tell your mom, mom's not as mom's not as uh effusive with her excitement. Maybe for her, you know, she's looking at this kid? You I know what that's I look, I love my mom. God rest her soul, she's in heaven. I love my mom, but boy, when I told her the Lord Lord called me to this. Didn't go like I thought. And it crushed me. And throughout my ministry, speaking all over the country, sometimes to thousands of people, I thought, wow, the one person I thought would really be excited about it. He's like, that's okay. You don't have to give them a speech. If you've placed your faith in Christ, you say, hey, the guy on the ugly guy with the fat face, he he said, tell somebody, tell a believer, tell somebody you love that you've placed your faith in Christ. And immediately I thought of you. I just wanted you to know I love you. And I wanted you to know that I became a believer today, a follower of the way. And then go on. Don't be mad at them. Just grow. Every day grow. You'll never regret this, I'm telling you. Power doesn't corrupt you, it reveals you. So don't white knuckle your way to gentle. Get under the word daily, the way the king had to. And let it keep your heart from rising over the people you love. All have little kingdoms. Rule over your small kingdom with a towel in your hands. Tomorrow we pick up. Tomorrow's Friday. Friday, yes. Tomorrow, and it's day 129 tomorrow. I know because I got it written right there. Tomorrow we pick up in Deuteronomy 21. And we close out this week. Sometime on Saturday, blog post and study guide will post on Truewordfaithforlife.com. Blog, and you just scroll down once you click on the week's blog, whichever log, they're all there. I don't delete anything. I pay for this massive, massive memory so that you never go, oh man, what was that one? You know, they're all there. Use them. Be ashamed to do all that work and then. Anyway, blah, blah, blah. Maybe send this to somebody who carries authority over others. Maybe somebody who finds a boot on their neck every day when they go to work or when they get around family. If you're not a subscriber, click on subscribe and tap the little bell, maybe the thumbs up. You'll get a notification every time I go live. You ready? We're going to pray a blessing over you, right? I'm nobody special, not better than you. I'm just praying in his heavenly name and in Lashon Hokkodesh, which is Hebrew, the language of God. Don't panic. I'm going to translate it at the end. You say, why? Why do you do it this way? Why do you give, why do you pray it first in the in the Hebrew? Because it's Lashon Hakodesh, the language of God. It's the language God spoke to his people, Hebrew, and the language his people spoke back to him. I think there's something to that. Are you ready? Take some deep breaths. Take some deep breaths. Here we go. Iverakaadonai virishimreka. Ysa Adonai Panavaleka virishimlaka shalom. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. Until tomorrow, if the Lord tarries. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, Sunday, 6 30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Until tomorrow. Shalom Bashem Yeshua.
