Did Jesus Abolish the Torah? | The Most Misunderstood Teachings of Jesus Christ EP 3
Welcome to True Word, Faith for LIFE! with Dr. Shawn—where in-depth biblical teaching meets the richness of original languages and cultural context. In this powerful episode, Dr. Shawn dives deep into one of the most misinterpreted teachings of Yeshua (Jesus): Matthew 5:17.
“I did not come to abolish the Torah or the Prophets, but to fulfill them.” What did Yeshua really mean? Was He declaring that the Torah is no longer relevant? Or was He restoring its true meaning?
🔥 In this episode, you’ll discover:
✅ What the Greek word pleroo (πληρόω) really means — and why “fulfill” doesn’t mean “end.”
✅ How the Hebrew concept of lekayem (לְקַיֵם) reveals Yeshua’s true purpose — to uphold and correctly interpretthe Torah.
✅ Why the idea that “grace cancels Torah” is a dangerous misunderstanding of both Yeshua’s words and Paul’s teachings.
✅ How Torah was—and still is—the foundation for justice, community, and walking in covenant with God.
✅ What Yeshua meant when He said, “Not one yud or stroke will pass from the Torah…”
📖 Dr. Skip Moen’s insights shed powerful light on the Hebrew worldview and why Torah isn’t about legalism—it’s God’s blueprint for living in covenant faithfulness.
